There are few boxers in the business who have the charisma and ability that Jean Pascal demonstrates. No one will forget Pascal’s form against Carl Froch in a fight that is still being talked about as one of England’s best fights of the year. Unfortunately for Pascal, he lost the fight but won the respect of many boxing fans and established a name for himself as a fearless fighter. WBC light heavyweight champion During the summer, Pascal won the WBC light heavyweight belt from an undefeated Adrian Diaconu by unanimous decision. This will be Pascal’s second title defence and he is looking in great physical form. During his last press conference before the bout, Pascal said that he is ready and will beat Branco. According to Pascal's trainer, the boxer's fast movement and hard punches will be key to get the victory. UK Boxing analyst, Curtis McCormick, believes that Jean Pascal’s future is looking very good and should he win this bout, it would segment the fighter to receive the attention that he deserves from the amrican market. Bout against Silvio Branco On September 25th, 2009, Jean Pascal will face Italy’s Silvio Branco at the Bell Centre in Montreal. Branco has been appointed the official mandatory challenger for Pascal by the WBC. At age 43, Branco is coming off four straight wins, while his best win came in 2000 when he defeated former light heavyweight champ Glen Johnson in a 12-round super middleweight bout. It’s easy to understand what Branco has done to earn himself a title shot, with a record 70 fight fought, he'll be looking to notch his 60th career win. Branco is a highly experienced boxer who moves well for his age and has an effective jab. The Italian contender will be working on his past experience to guide him toward victory. The future for Pascal As for Jean Pascal, a win will land him as a candidate for the WBC's "Fighter of the Year" award and not to mention the possibility at a re-match against Carl Froch or a big money fight in the light heavyweight division. This fight is expected to generate big revenues for Pascal's promotional company, Groupe Yvon Michel. Among the interested spectators will be Adrian Dianocu, who has said he will be present at the Bell Centre in hopes of a rematch with Pascal. Should Branco win the fight, the chances of getting a title shot will be slim. A fight not to be missed!
